Traditional deodorants are one of the most toxic things we put on our bodies, and they are absorbed directly into our bloodstream, lymph nodes, and breast tissue. If you only replaced ONE personal care item for a clean version, please make it your deodorant. You need to find one that is aluminum-free and free of synthetic fragrances. I have been on the hunt for clean, effective, natural deodorants since there were only a couple of choices on the market. And, honestly, they never really worked that well. But I persisted…often suffering through options that either left stains on my clothes, caused underarm rashes, or just simply didn’t work. As more and more clean options emerged, things improved, but I am still super picky…I need a deodorant that works well, doesn’t cause irritation or leave stains, and, of course, needs to have clean ingredients. The same goes for moisturizers, lip products, and other beauty essentials…sadly, the most popular and commonly used products are loaded with toxins, and it is absolutely worth the effort to switch to clean versions. I have been searching for the best of the best for years. Here are a few of my favs 🖤
Deodorants
PRIMALLY PURE
These are definitely a fan favorite at my house. There are several great scents, some with charcoal, some baking soda free, and they all work great! I usually can’t do formulas with baking soda, but the charcoal baking soda version (that I bought on accident) works great.
ZEBRA
This is also a brand I trust and love! Zero questionable ingredients, great scents and formulas with or without baking soda. I really love finding great brands that are meticulous about their ingredients and this is one I discovered via their toothpaste, and was happy to find great deodorants as well.
FREAKS OF NATURE
I have to give my hubby the props for this one. He loves the sunscreen from this brand and just discovered that the deodorants are also 10/10. His old natural deodorant left stains on his clothes, but this one is super clean, smells great, and leaves no residue. Highly recommend for the men in your life.
Moisturizers
PRIMALLY PURE BODY BUTTERS AND BODY OILS
These are so luxurious, but a little goes a long way, so totally worth it. They’re made with all-natural ingredients, and are super absorbable (due to the tallow) and hydrating. I am obsessed with the body butters (the blue tansy is my fav) and the body oils are amazing too. Great for yourself or to give as gifts.
ORGANIC JAGUAR LOTION
I have a handful of brands that are my go-tos because I absolutely trust their ingredients and know I am going to get a clean, high-quality product that actually works. This is absolutely one of them. I first fell in love with the shampoo, but as it turns out, I have loved every product I have tried, and the ingredients can’t be beat.
CALIFORNIA NATURALS BODY LOTION
I love this affordable option, and so do my girls. They especially love the scent, which is a great alternative to things like Eos or Sol de Janeiro. Artificial fragrances, especially heavily scented things that teens love, are endocrine disruptors and so damaging to their hormones. This is a great non-toxic alternative they will love.
Lip Products
PRIMALLY PURE LIP TRIO
These three products are perfection, and can be purchased separately or as a set. The lip oil is a staple in both my car and my purse, while the lip balm is my go-to while at home. The balm comes in a couple of different flavors, while the lip oil is great as a gloss, while also being super hydrating. You can’t go wrong.
OLIVEDA LIP BALM & LIP BUTTER
I love this brand for so many reasons, and these lip products are no exception! The balm is amazing for overnight…so hydrating and you wake up with the most moisturized lips. The lip butter is a perfect daytime gloss and comes in three shades: clear, light pink and a deeper red color.
ZEBRA GLOSS
Another brand that I love and trust with only the cleanest ingredients! I love their glossees, and especially love the soft brownish tint and flavor of the Iced Latte version. Perfect on it’s own or over your fav lip combo. It’s so good!
Other Personal Care Products
MANUCURIST NAIL CARE, POLISH & GEL SYSTEM
One super toxic thing I have struggled to give up is getting my nails done. I know it’s toxic, and I know it needs to go, but honestly, I love when my nails look nice. Enter Manucurist! These products are amazing…there is such a great variety from nail care, to strengthening and conditioning, to regular polish and even a gel system…all non-toxic! My current favorite is the “Active” line because I can care for my nails with their infused products, while also having a nice, clean look. I think I can finally ditch the toxic (and expensive) trips to the nail salon.
PRIMALLY PURE DRY SHAMPOO
Before I discovered this product, I honestly didn’t really think there was such a thing as a clean dry shampoo. But leave it to Primally Pure to have one, package it beautifully, and make sure it actually works! Not to mention, they have two formulas: one for light and one for dark hair. They really do think of everything, and I love knowing that I can trust their ingredients.
CASTOR OIL
I honestly wasn’t sure what section this should go in, because it is so darn versatile! I honestly use it for everything…but my favorite use lately is to apply it with a roller ball to my whole eye area before bed. It is super moisturizing, helps with fine lines, promotes lash and brow growth, and can even help to improve eyesight and prevent/reduce cataracts! This stuff really can be used for everything. In fact, I think you will probably see it on more than one of my recommendation pages 😉
